Anne is an executive, researcher and founder exploring the intersection of civic belonging, economic development and social value.
She publishes under her full name, Anne Krahé Schaeflein, and holds an Executive MBA with Distinction from Warwick Business School. Her original research developed the Regenerative Hospitality Social Return on Invest (RHSROI) Framework, demonstrating how belonging generates Social Return on Investment (SROI) within hospitality through the lenses of permaculture, social entrepreneurship and organisational design.
Building on this foundation, more than four years of interdisciplinary research led to the development of the Circular Belonging Framework (CBF). While existing ESG frameworks predominantly report social outcomes, the CBF addresses the missing methodology: how belonging can be intentionally designed, embedded and continuously strengthened. In doing so, it provides a repeatable approach for creating and evidencing Social Return on Investment, enabling organisations, communities and cities to better understand the relationship between human flourishing, resilience, productivity and long-term economic performance.
Her current research extends this work to explore the relationship between belonging, resilience, productivity, innovation, social cohesion, GDP and intergenerational continuity, establishing an evidence base that supports better civic, organisational and economic decision-making.
Through the Sentier de La Maison Foundation, Anne works with academia, governments, organisations and communities to translate this research into global standards, accreditation, research partnerships and practical implementation, embedding belonging as critical civic, organisational and economic infrastructure.
